Thomas Juth
Thomas Juth is a Grammy Award winning Mix Engineer based in London, England.
Juth spent 5 years working as the in-house mixer at Kensaltown Studios in London, and as a part of the Kensaltown Team (James Morrison, Jason Mraz, KT Tunstall, etc). Over the years, working with a very wide range of musical styles, he has developed his own trademark sound - clear and punchy, as well as "vibey" and exciting.
Juth has recently been working with artists such as Scouting For Girls, Tinchy Stryder, Elton John, Jesse & Joy (which won him two Grammy awards), Beverly Knight and up-coming German artist Leslie Clio.
Growing up in northern Sweden, Juth developed a passion for sound and music at an early age. Hearing The Beatles' Come Together at the age of 7 inspired him to wanting to work with sound, as he recalls:
"Just hearing that compressed and punchy drum sound totally blew me away, and it still does every time.".
With the years the interest for sound and engineering grew further, a passion that eventually got him a job at Mayfair Studios in London. During the following years Juth assisted some of the best mixers, absorbing as much knowledge as possible. However, the biggest inspiration and eye-opener was working with Tony Maserati.
"I've always been a big fan of the sound of Hip Hop records, and especially the fat sound of Tony's mixes. So to finally work with him was a big inspiration and taught me so much about mixing".
And he adds:
"A good mix is all about two things - excitement and focus. Whether it’s pop, electronic or Hip Hop, it’s all about finding out what makes each record exciting and build the mix around that".
